Art Event: My visit to the Getty Villa

For this visit on Saturday, April 2nd, I went to Los Angeles to visit the Getty Villa in Santa Monica instead. It was such a great experience, I was able to view art that I have never even imagined I would be seeing. It is located in Malibu and serves as an educational center that is committed to educating the public about the arts in the cultures of ancient Greece, Rome and Eturia. This place is free to the public with a 15 dollar parking fee for a car, but it you can always try to find free parking and walk. It is such an incredible place to visit and experience art, not only from the pieces left on the walls, but by the entire experience of the architecture itself. If you plan to visit this architectural site, plan to print out tickets prior.

Art Event: My visit to the Getty Center

My visit to the Getty research institute in Los Angeles was a very enlightening experience. From the start, it felt like a trip to an amusement park as you have to take a trolly to the research center hidden in the hills of west Los Angeles. The entire museum is designed differently, accommodating an international style of architecture that expresses Frank Lloyd Wright's signature style. Jean Paul Getty purchased 750 acres in the foothills of the Santa Monica mountains. The design of the architecture is very classical and the materials used were to express the Getty's roots in the past and belief in the future. The Getty Center opened in December 1997 and has not stopped giving the public an exquisite view of art from different cultures, mediums, and time periods. The best part about going to the Getty is, that it's totally free, except for the 15 dollar parking fee, but you can just park in the neighborhoods and walk to it.
